True Religion

Sometimes I try to imagine how hard You fought
So that by Your blood my life may be bought
But not just mine or my nation,
No, I mean this generation.
And I’m not talking the 30 and under crowd
The ones thought sometimes to be a bit too loud
No, I mean this HISTORICAL generation
Age embryo to 1-2-0
Living in every nation
Croatia, Malaysia, Ecuador and Iraq
His gift on the cross He’s not taking back but
Some of us didn’t take Him seriously when He said
Go into ALL nations and make disciples of them
You see,
All is more than few
and can’t be reached just sitting in that pew
So you get up and go out
and don’t even think to stand and shout
and tell of His love and all He’s done,
If your only in church for fun
Then march out that door
and don’t come back till you’ve brought more
and by more
I do not mean more
Already born again
More bench sitters more bible belters
No!
Bring in the hungry, the hurting
Bring in the mourners
And once you’ve brought them in
Make sure you’ve got a pen
And write their name down
Write it down on your hand
Write it down on your heart
And catch the name of their address, their shelter their street and their block
but
Don’t get too comfortable sitting with them in that pew
Because the next thing you’re going to do
Is skip up to their door and bring them baked goods
I mean, what’s Crisco made for?
And your going to feed them and love them and hug them and tell them
that our God is a God of hellos
Not goodbyes
And you’re going to pray and bring His presence with you,
Because one minute of His love
One minute of His peace
Can end broken pieces in their lives
Now, this may sound a little radical (or maybe the term is fanatical)
But I’m not talking about some hunger fast
Or waving flags at our nation’s capital
This is not some form of litigation
Hun, I’m talking TRUE religion
Feed the orphan
And be there
for the widow,
But don’t do it with your nose all stuck up in the air.
And I don’t care if they’ve got a decease
You bring that chin down 45 degrees
and look them in the face
but don’t you dare
Pay attention to their race
Or gender
Or age,
Or politics
Or sin,
Or addictions,
Or judgements
Or intelligence
Or….
JESUS CHRIST…

Loved you,

Why can’t you love them?
