Time loses itself in the Kitchen sink

The green leaf clings to its elusive history. It is curling its newly developed bright fire-engine redness in the direction of north.
The artist glimpses downwards and imagines how she could paint it and cherish its meaning and memory. Her painting
occupies her thoughts and dreams.
Her painting is pushed through the kitchen sink drain, the cracks of the tiled floor, the depth and width of the cold fridge, the toilet bowl and the cupboard surface now gleaming beigy white, the bleached clothing, the droplets of spray spreading over the
glass and the vanishing spots and smudges. The indoor plant becomes nourished with the water that could have been used to mix her palette. The tubes of acrylic paint rest undisturbed on the shelf. The canvas remains secluded in its corner. The artist’s hand
hold the dish cloth, the cleanser, the broom, the dust pan, the floor mop, the dish towel, the water jug, the cooking utensils.
She glances into her studio and sighs, “Another time.Later.”
The months slip by in the dark mood of the evening time and the artist finds a wee light.
Now the kitchen sink is filled with cluttered dishes. The floor is swept quickly. The fridge is barely opened. The kitchen table is scattered with sharpened pencils, fine felt tip pens, erasers crumbling at the corners, a dummy book of illustrations for a children’s light hearted tale about a beaver and eight termites, sketches in piles of gleaming whiteness. Canvases are leaning against a wall. Smudges and specks of dried paint are left defiantly on the piny surface of the table. Multi coloured pencil crayons lie in a disorderly fashion in a plastic tray. Scissors, gluesticks, masking tape, water colors, acrylic tubes, jugs of black, blue, white and yellow paint are viewed with pleasure.
The artist is back.
