Artist's Description

This wonderful photo of days gone by would date back to the late 1920’s. The couple on the left are my grandparents – Frank & Alice Buckle.

My mother, Lillian Rose buckle is the child on the left (aged two or three years) and the wee boy is my uncle Cliff, who would have been not much more than a year old.

Great uncle George (Buckle) is the man on the right. It looks as though he may have had a few too many and is having trouble staying awake!! Apparently he was known for this.

I just adore the clothes they are all wearing. Probably dressed in their Sunday best and out on a picnic somewhere in the English countryside.

I don’t know who took this picture. It could quite possibly have been my mothers elder brother Bill Buckle, who would have been about six. You will see that my granddad is balancing a Box Brownie on his knee or perhaps just the case anyway.
