Artist's Description

The Hohokam Indians lived in southwest Arizona from about 800AD until 1300AD when they inexplicitly disappeared. During the time that they and their communities were evident, they built a very large structure by the current city of Coolidge, Arizona. This site hs been perserved and the ruins are now under the care of the National Park Service and can be viewed and studied in great detail. This image was taken of the Casa Grande. It is now covered with a large open roof to help preserve the ruins. I took this shot without including that structure as i felt it distracted from the sight of the ruin.
