Artist's Description

This is Santa Rosa, New Mexico’s Blue Hole- the opening of a natural spring that has a per-minute out-flow of 3000 gallons at a constant, cool 61 degrees Farenheight. The amazing blues and greens are quite a sight after hours of driving through the high desert plains of Texas and Eastern New Mexico. This geological feature can be found in a nicely maintained New Mexico park, and scuba diving is popular here!

Route 66, America’s “Mother Road,” came through Santa Rosa, making this Blue Hole one of the many tourist attractions along the way.

This is from three exposures, shot with a Canon 5DMkII using a Tamron 28-300 VC lens. The shots are combined into this High Dynamic Range final image using Apple’s Aperture and the Photomatix plugin which allows me to custom-manipulate the exposure blending.
