At the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, all is pristine and clear as pelicans stand sentinel along the Florida Bay/Gulf of Mexico shoreline.
The center offers free Eco Tours to travelers passing by on the Keys Highway, and is host to over 14,000 visitors a year.
Picture taken along the mangrove shore of Tavernier Key, Florida, using a Canon 5D and a Tamron 28-300 VC lens. Image was captured as three exposures and processed with Photomatix and Aperture.
This location is at the end of the mangrove marsh boardwalk, which opens up onto this natural Florida Bay/Gulf of Mexico shore. (Most shores in the Florida Keys are not sandy… this mix of coral marl, seaweed, and mangroves is the norm.)
