Artist's Description

As you take the winding mountain road from Interstate 280 towards Half Moon Bay on the coast of the Pacific Ocean just south of San Francisco, one of the first scenic vistas you pass is the Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir. (California, USA). This was taken on a chilly December morning after days of heavy rainfall, and the hills were shrouded in fog rolling in from the ocean. This reservoir is a primary water source for San Francisco and the Bay area.

This image was captured using a Canon 5D MK II, Tamron 28-300VC PZD lens @50mm. 3-exposure auto-bracket at 400 ASA tone mapped in Photomatix.

FYI- that’s a large flock of birds in the middle-upper-left of the image.
