Lancaster Bomber EE139 ‘Phantom of the Ruhr’ flying at Duxford. Nikon D3100 with a Sigma 150-500 zoom.
“The aircraft pictured is the BBMF’s Lancaster PA474 painted with the “Phantom of the Rhur” originally carried on EE139 which was scrapped in February 1946.” – Information supplied by Colin Smedley
It’s a super shot Nigel! Has all the atmosphere of a Lanc returning from ops at first light. Well deserved feature! However the aircraft pictured is the BBMF’s Lancaster PA474 painted with the “Phantom of the Rhur” originally carried on EE139 which was scrapped in February 1946.
