I love the music of The Doors and spent some time reading about them as well as listening to their work. The Doors took their name from the Aldous Huxley book “The Doors of Perception”, written in 1954. Aldous Huxley took the title of his book from a poem by William Blake “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell” which has the line “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite.” Aldous Huxley wrote his book about a mescaline trip, which is from the psychedelic cactus Peyote used by American Indians in religious ceremonies for thousands of years.
I took the photo of the door with peeling paint around it while I was out driving for a living and it reminded me of my interest in The Doors. This goes to show that you don’t need drugs to screw your mind up, just spend too long in a van, alone and bored.
Nikon D40X for wall with peeling paint.
Nikon D3100 for road leading to sunset.

Great work!!
Thanks very much Kristi.
A fabulous surreal image Nigel.
Yep…this is what happens when you’ve spent way too much time in a van :)
Thanks very much, thankfully I am no longer out as much now, having changed position.
just perfect
Thanks very much, really appreciate it.
Wow…..cool !!
Thanks very much.
Love this surreal image Nigel !!!!! Wonderful combination of images :)))
Thanks very much. It just goes to show you should always keep shots that may not seem useful at the time. I had the picture of the wall for two years before I created this image. I now take pictures of anything that could come in useful later!
That is clever…I like that!!!
Thanks very much for your comments and favourite.
Thanks very much for featuring my work and for the favorite, I really appreciate it.
fabulous creation :)
Thanks very much, I kind’a got lost in Photoshop with this!
lol. it was worth getting lost in. there’s so much you could do with this concept. i’ve only recently got ps and get lost just trying to work the thing – need to spend some time on it, but patience isn’t a virtue i have in abundance !!
Me either, but I can tell you it is a fantastic tool. Don’t think there are rules you have to follow to use it, just play. Like most men I buy a new piece of electrical equipment and plug it in to see how it works, forget reading the instruction book!
