Fallen Idols

A fact of life, we lose our heroes,
Genius can’t abide this Earth.
They despise this realm of torture,
Peerless talent knows no worth.

Taken back was Robert Marely,
Prophet of our Godless age.
He wrote hymns proclaiming freedom,
Cancer struck this modern sage.

In the bath they found Jim floating,
Sold his soul for drugs and drink.
Drowned to death in his sorrow,
Fame is harder than you think.

The brightest Beatle in the band,
Lennon John, caught in the Rye.
Claiming he was just a phoney,
Fucking Chapman made him die.

Ian Curtis Lost control,
‘The Idiot’ playing as he swings.
When melancholy takes its toll,
‘New dawn fades’ he proudly Sings.

Michael Jackson spawned an era,
Went a week before he toured.
Now performs in front of Angles,
Dances daily for the Lord.

We lament these Fallen Idols,
Weep for songs they could have sung.
Tears we shed in grief and sadness,
Tell me why they died so young?
