Black Wave

I could never
see the world
through rose-tinted glasses.

I could never
be happy
with my life.

I could never
make it easy
for myself.

Because the black wave
clings around me
and never lets go.

I may pretend,
I can try to escape,
But it always comes back,
It hunts me.
When i least expect it.

Artist's Description

Reading back this poem is always extremely therapeutic it reminds me of how i feel when i’m in a depressive spike. When I’m well it reminds me of the extreme feelings i can experience and also how totally untrue those feelings are through my life overall. When I’m depressed i feel comfort in the darkness and reading this piece allows me to do that.
