Artist's Description

Taken at midday on the hottest day in Turkey during 2008. At one stage, the thermometer showed 54c! Even the Turks were wilting…

The Library is very well preserved, and quite a lot of the original Roman architecture is intact.

As a tourist site, Ephesus on a very hot day is an endurance test. Coaches drop you at the entrance, and no water or shade is available until you exit on the port side. Needless to say, you are then assailed with (expensive) cold drinks and cafes. And of course, the obligatory ‘Genuine Fake Rolexes’
