The tiny English Channel Island of Alderney was occupied by Nazi forces during WW2, and was heavily fortified by them. Many of the bunkers, fortresses, and gun positions are still undisturbed some 60 years after being abandoned.

This tunnel, which leads upwards, then turns with stairs was absolutely pitch black! It is well inside an abandoned Nazi Fortress on Bibette Head.
My friend and I followed this up, with a single small torch. It lead to a room that was flooded to about knee depth, and then the corridor, still flooded, carried on, but we could go no further. I believe it led to the sleeping quarters.
Very spooky! even the electrical wires are still on the walls further up.
