Artist's Description

My first ever try at a long exposure HDR using the B+W ND 3.0 Filter. This filter only lets in 1/1000 of the available light.

Going to have to keep on practicing with this filter I think, another steep learning curve here we come :)

This shot was taken on a very bright but cloudy day (yes, I know that’s bit of a contradiction) in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.

It is an HDR of 5 images ranging from 3 minutes in exposure time and dropping 30 seconds per subsiquent shot, ending at an exposure of 1 minute. The five shots were then processed in Photomatix 3.2 and then tone, colour and sharpening adjustments were done in Photoshop CS3. A Topaz spicify filter was also applied in Photoshop to help with the overall contrast.

One of the original images – this one is the 1 min 30 sec shot

There are two people stood leaning on the railings, and looking at the five images they only appeared in the last two, but they don’t seem too ghosted so I decided to leave them in.
