Artist's Description

USED BY INDIANS FOR 300 OR MORE YEARS BEFORE THE SETTLERS AT ST LUKES . IT THEN BECAME A TRADE ROUTE AND AT ONE TIME WAS ABLE TO BE NAVIGATED BY TALL SHIPS AND CANOES ALIKE . IT IS NOW BLOCKED OFF MILES AWAY FROM THE INLET FROM THE JAMES RIVER WHICH IS FEED FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN IN VIRGINIA BEACH . THE PATHWAY FROM THE CHURCH IS THE ORIGNAL PATHWAY USED BY INDIANS SINCE BEFORE TIME WAS RECORDED AND LATER BY THE SETTLERS AS WELL . IT RAN FROM VIRGINIA BEACH TO DEEP INTO THE NORTHERN AREAS OF EASTERN VIRGINA
