May 1996

Listen to my words, the things I say.
For I have flown with the angels,
They showed me the way.
Embraced me with warmth and a light so bright,
Told me to hold on, keep up the fight.
It wasn’t my time, they still had things for me to do,
“There are still lessons to be taught,”
“You need to learn to love you.”
The angel before me was just a boy,
What I felt in my heart was of pure joy.
He comforted me with his eyes, his lips were still,
Seemed to read my thoughts,
As he responded with a blanket to my bodily chill.
“Do not be scared, for your life has just begun!
Learn to cherish each day like it is your last one.
Notice and embrace the people you may meet,
Take the time to help someone who has fallen in the street.
See the sun as it sets each day by the sea.”
As he spoke my fear faded away,
I then knew everything would be ok.
Laying my head back to embrace the light,
He suddenly vanished, was not in sight.
My eyes opened slowly in the hopital I lay,
Went home doing great by the fifth day.
As I rode home I noticed how beautiful everything seemed to be,
With each passing day I watch, as the sun sets on the sea.
