The Willow

She sits alone, legs up to her chin
Her eyes start to swell, the tears begin
The forest her home
The Willow her protection
She hides herself, fear of rejection
Darkness has fallen over the trees
Silence dominates except for the breeze
Branches of the Willow start to dance
She dances with them, in a trance
For with the Willow everything is right
Nothing can hurt her in the night
Dancing, singing around her tree
Life has disappeared momentarily
For just a moment her heart fills with joy
She remembers seeing him, When he was just a boy.
Playing in the clearing alone on that day
She longed to love him in some way…….
As the moon starts to rise
Getting bigger in size
The Willow starts to bend
An instant shield it offers to lend
Trying to hide her glittering wings
Her intense beauty amongst other things
He serves her well for he loves her so
Would rather die than let her go
Through the storms of life he’s been her soul
Her love for the HUMAN has taken its toll
The Willow knows as well as she
The love between HUMANS and ANGELS can’t
be……
(or so they thought)
