Artist's Description

Where the North Branch of the Chicago River flows under Western Avenue.
In 1900, the flow of the river was reversed so sewage and pollution went away from Lake Michigan instead of into it.
No longer known as “the Stinking River,” something else stinks in the neighborhood. Our esteemed, former governor, Rod Blagojevich, lives a couple miles upstream.

Shot with a 4×5 view camera. 10 minute exposure. Car lit with headlights. High-res scan of negative.
