Apologies

Apparently some of my posts on abortion have hurt sensitivities. For this I heartily apologize. Perhaps the post on the barren life offended women not able to conceive. That was not my aim. I was aiming at women who have a throw away mentality about abortion. Throw away this child, get another. My words were NOT addressed to women who cannot conceive. They have some part in God’s plan also. Perhaps they were meant to adopt. I don’t know the circumstances of someone else’s life. All I can do is offer encouragement and information.

Each one of us has a place in God’s plan. No one should ever despair. As stated in Sirach, which I have been quoting a lot through the week of the pro-life march, God has made all the creatures, and “not one of them has he made in vain”. So for women who cannot conceive, God has a plan for you also. I’m very sorry if I have offended anyone. That was not intentional. Actually, I didn’t even think of it that way.

For women who have aborted children and felt hurt by my words, who experienced a deep regret, these are signs of repentance and conversion and are salvific for the soul. It is a good thing, not an evil one. Every day we are making decisions to turn to God or to turn away from God.

In my college years, there was a lot of discussion about a woman’s independence and choices. It sounded rather reasonable to youth. I too have gone through a conversion on this subject. If you have felt this, you are not alone. Many women have experienced this and learned a great deal in the process. I was not trying to single anyone out, or trying to hurt anyone. I just got a little too energetic. Sorry about that.

May God bless everyone.
