“I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free.” ~Charles Dickens
Rosie is supposedly a BIRD DOG, as she is a springer, but she prefers chasing the elusive and free butterflies no matter where we go!
I was weepy this morning, wanting to go out and shoot, but grieving today, as it will be a year this week that Oliver has gone. Rosie is still getting used to the car verses the truck, but was more than glad to be at my side today for a change.
We stopped at the Livingston Manor Covered Bridge along the Beaverkill Stream for some exercise and cooling before approaching the Balsam Lake Mountain that we were to hike today.
It was a breath of fresh air to enjoy watching her leaping through the waters, and joining her in a swim in the cool mountain waters, I had not been back here since long before Oliver passed. Rosie once again made me smile and laugh and play like a child. I am grateful for every day we share together, and with her brother Tucker who did not accompany us as the weather was too hot for both in the car today.
