I asked my Mom to help me write this letter to you in my last hours shared with my Fur Mom, Pamela. My time has come to say good bye to all of those who have wished me well in the past two months…they were two loving months longer I had to share with my Mom, Pamela and my sister Rosie. It is now my time to go back home, cross over the rainbow bridge, and bid you all farewell.
Thank you all so very much for your kind wishes, your prayers, and the support you have lent to my dear fur mom. Though I know it breaks her heart, I am no longer able to have fun with Rosie and her; I can no longer walk or run. I wish to leave here with the fun times in our memory; times shared amid the serenity of nature, romps at the lake, and long rides in the car next to my mom, basking in the beauty of the Catskills.
I can only ask that you remember me as her faithful companion throughout the time that we have all had opportunity to be friends and share our pictures of my journeys with my mom here on RB.
To my personal friends: Tucker, Yogi, Charlie Girl, Sota, Snowdrop, Martha, Arwen, Luthien, and the many other canine super models of RB, I say “keep up your wonderful antics, your beautiful poses, and your gracious charm!” Tucker, keep chasing the squirrels for me! Charlie Girl and Snowdrop …I always had a secret crush on you both. Sota, carry on for my friend Chance if you will! Yogi, pose for your Mom, she is such a great artist! Martha, you have my permission to sleep wherever on whatever you may choose! Arwen and Luthien, watch over that precious baby! To all I have viewed on RB, my Mom will treasure your future images, knowing I loved you all!
As I depart my tail will wag one last time, for you see, I was a very special Cocker Spaniel. I had a long tail, which never stopped for a moment as I lived in happiness and joy with my family who took me in when I was very wee. I was and will always be loved and remembered with a smile by my family, for I was forever safest in their arms. I shall take with me the love, kindness, and compassion that was always given me without condition regardless of the path life had taken us throughout the years. I leave with love in my heart and gratitude for the most wonderful life I was given to enjoy the sunshine with my family. I will miss them terribly, as I know, they too, will miss me. I have left my paw prints in their hearts forever I am sure. They will be forever in my spirit which is about to be set free of earthly residence, where I can run and chase butterflies once more in another space and time with my fur companions I have lost along the way.
I bid you all farewell, and thank you once again.
To my Mom and Rosie I leave behind the pitter-patter of my furry paws, the happy wag of my tail, my loving bark, and the look of adoration in my eyes each morning as I arose to see my mom’s loving look, and hear her happy voice. This is my legacy to those whom I have loved. I am now about to be free to “Linger in the beautiful foolishness of things” for all eternity.
Love and licks,
Oliver O’Sullivan, the Cocker Spaniel with a tail
