Love?

He was a good man— handsome, sensitive, charming, every girl’s dream. She may even be in love with him, though they had never been more than acquaintances.

‘Use your common sense.’ Her father’s words rang through her ears.

Surely love could conquer all obstacles?

Use your common sense.

He was unreliable, untrustworthy, vain—but she knew that they could get through it.

Your common sense.

He had the worst temper. But it rarely flared up, and she was sure that she could convince him to get help. And love knew no bounds.

Common sense.

He was controlling at work, he would never let her have her say. He just expected her to agree with him, and her disagreement was always ridiculous in his eyes. But she was in love, right?

Sense.

“Will you marry me?” he asked, smiling that charming, white-toothed smile of his.

“No,” she said, and looked away.

Love?
