The photos in this flood collection have not been posted for their artistic merit; far from it, although this is probably one of the few exceptions. They are simply my personal account of the Brisbane Floods 2011 and how it has impacted my life. All photos have been taken in my local neighbourhood no more than 500 metres from my home. I hope you find them interesting and informative.
A local fellow from the neighbourhood brought his ‘tinny’ down to our street to ferry local TV news crews around the ‘waterways’ of Fairfield. Not as elegant or romantic as the gondolas of Venice, the tinny serves its purpose and is equally effective and practical. It’s the only way to get around! Not being shy, I jumped on board as well. They didn’t seem to mind. In fact, they were happy to oblige seeing I was a resident.
This is a photo of a local street sign outside a neighbour’s house. The high-watermark can be seen on the wall behind. Water levels have already begun to subside but will take another day before it fully abates. In the original photo, I thought the image was flat and very ordinary, so here I’ve given it some grunt. Hopefully it has worked. (B&W – Sepia)
Photo taken with Canon IXUS 80 IS and edited with Lightzone. SIMPLICITY is my niche!
Yet another flood recipient. (B&W – Sepia)
