Two of my favourite friendship quotes:
A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though she knows that you are slightly cracked. (B. Meltzer)… Dropped and splattered in my case :-)
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the poet, asked Charles Kingsley, the novelist, “What is the secret of your life? Tell me, that I may make mine beautiful also.” Thinking a moment, the beloved old author replied, “I had a friend.”
I’m very fortunate to have some wonderful people in my life. We are all very different individuals with our own ideas, beliefs, occupations and aspirations, but we share the common bonds of love, respect and friendship. My friends shown here also share a passion for photography. This photo was taken in our local park across the road from my home in Brisbane. We were looking at some of the native wildlife at the time, Gallahs in this case.
Photography for me is a very quiet and reflective meditation, an individual pursuit where I’m at one with nature and my surroundings, and that is reflected back to me. I feel blessed that my friends can share in this, participating in my experience but also having their own. We have very unique styles and very different approaches to photography, but the joys of a great capture and the ensuing artwork is easily shared and celebrated. I value this immensely as I do my friends. They’re good for the soul!
Photos taken with Canon IXUS 80 IS and edited with Lightzone. SIMPLICITY is my niche!
Another photo of our park expedition. In the foreground are two Gallahs, Australian native parrots. They frequent this area and are feeding here on grass seeds. There can be 20 or more birds at any one time. The tree to the left is a Jacaranda and was planted many years ago by my dear friend and neighbour, SHIRLEY. She’s 89 years young and still going strong.
