A rose from the bunch I bought from a little girl walking barefoot with tired eyes , stomach & soul & with a sense of no hope from the future at 40C in the traffic of Pune ,India. Traffic lights in India have the highest no. of beggers & vendors (selling roses, magazines & other cheap Made in China stuff),often little kids 6-15 yrs old. They are born to poor parents who earn less than a dollar a day & are left with no choice but to include their kids in begging or selling things in Traffic Lights. These kids (like their Parents) have hardly any clothes & everyday have to struggle for one singal MEAL. Forget about SCHOOL or shelter, they sleep under the bridge ,on footpath & if lucky in a hut in some slum . A lot of them (will) die in Winter of cold & then again in harsh summer of heat. India is one of world`s fastest growing economy but still more than 60% of the population lives in villages & a significant percent live (& die) earning less than $1 a day. Economy alone is not the guiding factor of becoming a developed nation. Only when every kid can go to school, every person can afford three meals a day & every soul is loved will a country gain true freedom & should be judged Developed. the title VALOR is my respect for these millions of kids who wake up every day to fight for survival , to fight for a LIFE which we take for granted. Its a salute to their courage , strength & attitude towards LIFE.
