Watercolour with Winsor Newton Artist tubes on 140 arches cold press watercolour paper.
My sons are all grown men now. It’s looking back that I realize how important is was to have spent the time with them. It didn’t have to be expensive once a year vacations either. Something as simple as camping out in the back yard or fishing a neighborhood pond worked just as well. I know today it was not the what, but the when.
Fellow redbubble artist and writer, Adgray, wrote the following poem and gave me permission to print it here.
If time was to stop tomorrow
what would yesterday mean?
Count up the values of memories
the stories and fulfilled dreams
We cannot live on tomorrows
there is no value to be seen
a promise is nothing but words
until the proof has proven been
And if it’s not done now
then what was is empty of voice
cavernous echoes of wishes
and regrets of unused choice
Will flowers be the only colour
when they farewell you in the end?
A hollow life will be hard to
celebrate by family or friend
So never rely on tomorrow
for tomorrow may never come
Love those around you each moment
until moments are all but done
