Artist's Description

During the summer of 2007 my family and I traveled to Scotland. While there we had the opportunity to take a tour of Rosslin Chapel and Rosslyn Glen. Most people may be familiar with these destinations from the best-selling novel by Dan Brown, The DaVinci Code. Others may know it from its connection to the Templars and the Freemasons. Regardless of all the myths and legends surrounding this area, there is definitely a mystical feeling and great spiritualism both in the famous chapel and in the surrounding grounds.

The wild and wooded glen surrounding the famous chapel and castle ruins has a very mystical feeling. There are many ancient trees, including two 600+ year old chestnuts. Many of these mandalas were made from photos of the leaves and branches of these ancient sentries.

This particular mandala surprised me by presenting a perfect five-point star or pentagram in the center.
