Artist's Description

Having recently driven for two days from the Gold Coast, Queensland to tropical Port Douglas in the far north corner of Queensland, I wanted to find out everything there was about this beautiful hot, lush section of Australia. Unlike other parts I have visited by road, the enduring humidity and lush rainforests, Daintree and Cape Tribulation was like entering another world. The locals have great knowledge and respect for their environment and are keen to share with visitors. Of course I thought a Cassowary or two might suddenly decide to burst out of the rainforest, but no, nothing more exciting than bush turkeys. We saw ancient, living tree markers carved by Aborigines hundreds of years ago, directing their people to waterholes There were gigantic mud birds’nests which act as air conditioned homes for the young, who then fly to New Guinea, become adult birds, then fly back to the same area in the rainforest to lay their young in the ready-made nest they had abandoned. So much more, too much for here!,etc.Original Acrylic on canvas is available for sale www.artnetshop.com.
