The Lockheed Super Constellation of the Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) performed at an air show held at its homebase at Albion Park Airport, south of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia on 22 February 2009. It is shown here taxying in after its air display. In the foreground one of the joy flight helicopter (Bell Jetranger VH-ACT) is coming in to land.
The Constellation, nicknamed “Connie” and registered VH-EAG, was recovered from the United States where its previous identity was as a C-121 with the USAF. HARS flew its back to Australia and have converted it to look similar to one of the aircraft previously operated by QANTAS.
The photo was taken with a Nikon D70 camera fitted with a Tamron AF Aspherical XR Di LD [IF] 28-300mm 1:3.5-6.3 Macro zoom lens.
The photo has been tweaked using Gimp software – using select/copy/paste and smudge tools to remove an imperfection, brightness/contrast tool and sharpening filter.
