This was one of the rarer birds at the last Australian International Airshow at Avalon Airport, located between Melbourne and Geelong, Victoria, Australia, in 2009.
It is, I think, a Sokol Galeb – a trainer from the former Soviet Bloc. It is wearing its military camouflage but with a civilian registration markings also (Yugoslavian ?) but I think it is actually on the Australian civil register – the only one.
Note; In background is Jim Wickham’s Yak-9, an F-16 from USAF, C-130J Hercules of RAAF and a Boeing 777 of V Australia.
This photo is a reminder that the next Australian International Airshow 2011 at Avalon is about to start any today (Going from 1-6 March 2011). Perhaps I will see you there.
The photo was taken with a Nikon D70 camera. It has been enhanced by use of Gimp software – removing an imperfection using selection and cut/paste tool and also using brightness/contrast and sharpening tools.
