Artist's Description

This is one in a series showing various aircraft with their national marking behind.
This aircraft is De Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth VH-DHV in pre World War Two training colours of Royal Australian Air Force aircraft A17-394.
The photograph was taken with a Nikon D70 camera fitted with a Sigma EX 50-500mm 1:4-6.3 APO DG HSM zoom lens.
The photo was tweaked using Gimp software – brightness/contrast tool and sharpening filter and was isolated from the original photo by select & clear and colour to alpha tools. The blue, white & red roundel was as used in the South Western Pacific Theatre during the Second World War by the Royal Australian Air Force (and also some Royal Air Force squadrons) and was also made using Gimp by overlaying a white circle on top of the same circle in dark blue and scaling the white circle to suit and then similarly adding a red circle into the centre of the white circle and resizing to suit. Then the aircraft image was overlaid, scaled and rotated and the titles added.
It was taken at the Albion Park Airshow held at Albion Park Airfield, south of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia on 8 March 2008.
