Artist's Description

This piece of Islamic Art is treasured in the Victoria & Albert Museum – London. I copied the exact item description as it was displayed in the Islamic Art section of the museum.

Art Description taken from Victoria and Albert Museum

Pilgrim Flask
Turkey, probably Kutahya
1700-1800

This is one of the larger and more complex items produced in Kutahya. The colour scheme, inherited from Iznik ceramices, includes distinctive red made with a liquid clay slip. But the scheme has been expanded by the adaption of yellow.

Fritware painted under the glaze.
