*"I Remember Well"*

I remember well
I listen as you tell me all your tales from afar
Santa Maria,
You come and go
I remain kept and content behind these walls
Watched by your ever protective male jackals
Should I fall or revolution erupt
I care for all my own needs and issues
And that of the people
It is wrong to want more than palaces.
You go more than you come,
But when you come it is a parade
Santa Meridian mescal
I sit at your feet
My knowledge to spar with your wit
You groomed me for this sacrificial governing life
All the joy I could contain inside standing next to you
But my love above all
Welcomes you home to perch
I want to fly with you;
Do not leave me behind this time.
Santa Matador
God help the murderers on judgment day.
I am sorry I ran. I am sorry for our baby boy.
Line straddled. Stations of the double crossed.
Empty pitcher,
Santa Majolica per diem
Shattered.
I am sorry.

Artist's Description

This is a poem from my recently published book,
“God Loves A Riddle: A Small Collection of Poems.”

All confusing and affirming.
These poems were written during the most base need survival years in
Boulder, Colorado; while facing 20+ year old PTSD flashbacks of the murder of my infant son never before surfaced.
It seems I was piecing my fragmented life together almost as quickly as the puzzle pieces were being thrown at me! Frightenly abstract.
This poem actual speaks of my life and feelings 23 years ago.
