Bendigo Gasworks - wanna come along?

My second novel will revolve around an old, abandoned (perhaps) gasworks. I have a little research behind me on how they work (I used to work for an historian who wrote the history of gas in Victoria – very easy reading despite the subject matter!).

Anyway, I want to learn more about an actual gasworks and there is one in Bendigo! It’s not yet open to the public, there are OHS issues about letting people wander around it. However, the trust that manages it will take large groups through for a fee. The fee is a little beyond me at the present time so I’m looking for anyone else interested in coming along, taking some interesting pics (or sketches) or just absorbing some of the information (and hopefully not the toxins) .

If you want to see what it’s all about, their website is here

If there’s sufficient interest, perhaps we could have a look-see at the Central Deborah Gold Mine, Chinese Joss House, and go for a tram ride (yipee).

:o)
