Frozen

A moonlit kiss by the frozen river
The wind pushes the snow
It swirls across the ice
Dancing in tune
With the beat of my heart
What mysteries lie beneath?
The barren trees keep a vigil
In solemn silence
They spy our lips embrace
From the opposite bank
Our bodies act as shields
Against the chill of night
Against the reality
Of a painful existence
The existence that makes
These rare moments
All the more exquisite
When time stands still
For two snow covered lovers
In the white-washed night
Wrapping each other
In crowded desolation
That warms the blood
And speeds the heart
Until the world creeps back in
With its overbearing self
And wicked ways
But until then I am lost
In this timeless embrace
