In my Head

I feel sometimes as though I am trapped
By the neon signs
That shine on suburbia
Trapped by the decaying brick walls
Of the old buildings
That hide among the new
The traffic lights that swing in silence
Above the flow of traffic
On these crowded streets
By the blank stares I give to this society
The cold shrug they send back
Apathy received, apathy returned
I can sense childhood dreams fading
As I commit myself
To these plazas of discounted discontent
The masses I judge although I should not
The bars that hold a vigil in my head
Crying out to a long forsaken urge
However…
With the autumn leaves exploding into fire
I can still see
The beauty this place offers

In my Head
