Artist's Description

This is all that remains of the Cottonwood Community, north of Havre, Montana, an area first homesteaded in 1910. Over the years, this building served as the First Presbyterian Church (1915), a Lutheran Church (1922) and a Catholic Church (1928). Today it serves mostly as toilet facility for the area’s cattle—judging by the amount of cow dung on the building’s floor. Can anyone say “Holy Cow”?

Taken 4/23/2011 near Havre, Montana.

Nikon D80 DSLR, Nikkor 16-85 mm wide angle/tele/zoom lens set at 85 mm.

ISO 200, f /16.0, 1/125 second, minor finishing in Photoshop CS4.

Featured in Country Bumpkin, 4/30/2011
