Artist's Description

The hood badge from a 1947 Frazer, one of the models made by the Kaiser-Frazer company in the U.S. The French motto at the base of the crest, “Je suis pret,” translates to “I’m Ready.”

According to a citation-less Wikipedia entry, the Frazer was “the flagship” of the company, and was named for the company’s President and General Manager, Joseph W. Frazer. The car came in one body style which was designed by Dutch Darrin.

Frazer, who had been President of Graham-Paige, joined with Henry J. Kaiser in 1946, but left the company a few years later. With his departure, the Frazer line ceased being made. I found this particular model sitting by the road near Lewistown, Montana. It appears to be in excellent shape. I’m tempted to go back and see about buying it.

Taken 4/22/2011 near Lewistown, Montana.

Nikon D80 DSLR, Nikkor 16-85 mm wide angle/tele/zoom lens set at 85 mm.

ISO 200, f /16.0, 1/180 second, finished in Photoshop CS4.

Top Ten in the Badged Bling Challenge, 6/28/2011
