As I drove home from work, the moon was just rising over the hills to the northeast of town. By the time I grabbed my camera, tripod, and long lens, the moon had already risen high enough that I was not able to get the picture I wanted. That said, I’m very pleased with what I did get.
Taken 12/1/09 in Missoula, Montana, using a Nikon D80 DSLR fitted with a Sigma 400 mm telephoto lens and a Sigma 2x tele extender, giving me an effective 800mm length (1200 mm in 35 mm film terms). ISO 100, f /8.0, 1/125 second.
