Artist's Description

The Long Beach, Washington civic boosters have claimed that this is the world’s longest beach. It has many challengers for that title, and today the boosters hedge their bets by calling the 28-mile long state park “the world’s longest continuous peninsula beach.” OK, if that’s what it takes. I can’t claim to have examined the entire length of the beach or the park, for that matter. But I do want to go back and spend more time there. Long Beach is the home of the World Kite Museum and holds the Washington State International Kite Festival each August. I’d love to witness that.

Taken at Long Beach, Pacific County, Washington, on September 5th, 2016, as part of my coffee table book project Evergreen: A Photographic Portrait of Washington’s Thirty-Nine Counties.

Nikon D7100 dslr, Nikkor 16-85 mm lens set at 20 mm. ISO 250, f /5.6, 1/8000th second. Finished in Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC 2018.
