Galena, Illinois is a charming vintage town in the northwest corner of the state almost bordering Dubuque, Iowa and about 10 minutes from the border of Wisconsin. A mining town in the 1800’s, Galena was the first stop on the first-ever railroad leading from Chicago. Today, despite its small population (3000 people, give or take) it’s a thriving community very popular with tourists thanks to its rich historic heritage, its stunning scenery, its wonderful resorts and spas, its gourmet eateries, its art galleries and unique boutiques. It’s a photographers’ paradise, as well.
