What better way to hide an old tin shed, than planting hollyhocks?
=====

Alcea is a genus of about 60 species of flowering plants in the mallow family (Malvaceae). Hollyhocks can grow to 15 feet in height. They come in myriads of colors. The red flowers in particular, attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Native to Asia and Europe, they became very popular as ornamentals in the 19th and early 20th century, so are often thought of now as “old fashioned,” or nostalgic. They make a wonderful addition to a country cottage garden.

Caught this on the farm where we go to get our eggs.
