Not a giant, not a real steamboat, not for dinner-cruises, no calliope or ballroom, no saloons or gambling (that I know of!). It’s a cool houseboat though/ a smaller replica of steam-powered paddlewheelers traveling up and down the Mississippi River in the 1800’s. This was taken in Sabula, Iowa but the boat says “Savanna.” Savanna, Illinois is just across the water and was once a major steam-boat hub. In Mark Twain’s day, there might have been a dozen of these beauties either docked or coming into shore or heading out but they’d have been 20 times the size. With real steam, saloons and calliopes!
