Artist's Description

This is HoneyBee, my third adopted bunny. Like the others she came to me, I wasn’t looking!

HoneyBee was rescued off the farm of a coworker. Her sister had bought a pet store bunny, then said it turned ‘mean’ and they took it to the farm, and left it in a pen outside. Not even close to the other animals. One day I went out to the farm and saw her. It was love at first sight! She was so pretty! I opened the pen and put my hand in there and she rushed over to me and put her head down for grooming.

My coworker came over and was shocked at what she saw. She said they didn’t even remember the name the bunny had, since they always referred to her as ‘mean bun’!! She said when she would open up the back of the cage to feed her she would lunge at her. I had to explain that the bunny was NEVER mean. That she’d only hit puberty. And when she put her hand through the back door, the poor bunny had no idea what was coming directly in front of her.

The back of the cage was a mountain of bunny poop. And to top it off she got one handfull of pellets and one handfull of grass in the morning. That was it. I told her immediately I’d take her.
We don’t know for sure how old she is. Somewhere between 2 and 4 years old.
She wasn’t spayed so I got a lot of nips and humping once she was free of her pen and became a house bunny. But she was so happy LOL Small price to pay. But by the end of the following month I was able to get that spay done.

She continues to entertain me on a daily basis. I could spend hours telling stories about her!
But I marvel at her outgoing personality for one so neglected. And she has the softest of fur. She put on weight in short order too.

My other two buns are a bonded couple and they have their own room, so HoneyBee has the run of the rest of the house.

She now enjoys her two big salads a day, along with all the timothy hay she can scarf up. She’s learned the refrigerator is where the goodies are and often comes and stands next to me in front of the open refrigerator door, at times she’s even hopped in. she’s incorrigible.
She loves snooping in my work bag too and looks for candy. She’s got quite a knack for it too!
