Seasonal Soul - M. Smith 13/6/2007

If the rain falls on the roof of this house today
I wonder about how much flooding can I take
And if a storm will shake these walls tonight
I wonder can I take that loud collapse
And if a blizzard falls in these cracks tonight
I wonder if the holes can survive that fate
And if the sun shines bright upon this land
I wonder will it prosper and may it grow?

For I feel the rain within my eyes
I feel the flood within my mind
I feel that storm that shakes my body
And in a willow, a tender tree.
I feel that blizzard within my soul
And its coldness envelopes me
It is my comfort
There is a sunlight in my mind but
That cannot be felt until death arrives
Prosperous as nature is
The pain it endures will make it stronger
This drought will release, the winds will change
But I will remain this way.

I am
Half the person I want to be
Half the mind I know I could be and
Half the soul I wish to be.

I am

A Seasonal Soul
