He walks in darkness

He walks in darkness, like a mind
of discontent and diatribe.
All raven thoughts he tries to hide
shrink his spine and dilate his eyes.
His brutal tirades splinter light
and thunder collides through the skies.

His darkness cannot be repressed;
although sometimes it has been masked.
With narrow-eyed signs of distress
he vainly strives to stay on-task.
Evil impulses make a mess;
so bleak, even he cannot bask.

On her soft cheek, against her breast,
bruises of unkindness a sign.
Sneers and teasing, are they a test?
Or a mark of his wine-dark mind?
A heart so hollow in its chest,
ivy tendrils torn from the vine.

He walks in darkness

Artist's Description

Inspirational Poets: Lord George Gordon Byron (more commonly known as Lord Byron)

She Walks In Beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow’d to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impair’d the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
