Artist's Description

The earliest known photo of this North Carolina circa 1756 grist mill was taken in the 1890’s, and the mill was built much earlier than that to grind grains and corn of various types for the local residents of the area. The mill, itself, is actually on the other side of the building.

The black and white structure of this image provides an aged effect, hinting at the historical value of this mill, while the colors in the reflection off the pond bring a warm and soothing glow and contrast to the image.

This photo was taken at Yates Millpond, North Carolina.

This photo was taken with a Nikon D700 using a 24mm-70mm aspherical lens.
