Artist's Description

Came home the other day and looked up, as I was about to turn on to the drive-way and was struck by how suddenly, every year that plant bursts into flower.

In the seventies, when I was trying to make a garden out of the very bare space, all around the house, I was still keen on planting those Dear Little Gazanias that I got to know, in 1967 and had seen being used in a drive-way, in Hay.

For a few years, the centre of that driveway was filled with gazanias.
They are so hardy and so easy to grow.
In those years we could regularly hose the garden and doing so, late in the afternoon, after work, was always a very peaceful thing to do.
..
I moved away. The garden was less cared for.
Now I’m back but feel very differently about this house.
