One word that describes the architecture of Whitehall is “venerable”. And from an artist’s viewpoint, the light and shading effects on these ‘corridors of power’ makes an interesting subject for a sketch. During a recent holiday to England, I visited the central area of London.
Great Scotland Yard Street is a few steps away from Trafalgar Square. I liked the pattern of sunlight and shadows in the narrow thoroughfare and this inspired me to create this drawing using pen and ink, plus coloured pencil for shading.
