A familiar icon recognised around the world, the Sydney Opera House has become a symbol that most associate with Australia, and Sydney in particular. Artist Al Benge drew this semi-abstract version of the famous landmark, using acrylic paint, and his splatter technique.
Says Al, "It was a challenge to represent such a notable public building on canvas, but I have tried to convey more than just a photographic depiction. It was my intention to try and create something of the hustle and bustle of Sydney Harbour, along with the sheer magnificence of this incredible piece of architecture. Ï hope I’ve achieved something of the atmosphere of this very scenic part of Australia in the process. It was certainly fun using my splatter technique on a shaded background, then applying broad areas of white and grey to depict the sails.
